Pogo Linux Servers Get a Jump in Performance from Latest Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor.

SEATTLE -- June 23, 2006 -- Pogo Linux’s product line gets a boost in performance and features with the introduction of the latest Intel® Xeon® processor. The Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor 5100 series (formerly known as "Woodcrest") takes performance to new heights while dramatically decreasing power consumption. Featuring direct-connect bus architecture and Fully Buffered DIMM memory technology, these new Intel Xeon processors provide the increased performance that Pogo Linux customers demand.

The 5100 series is the standout of the new Intel Xeon processor family, distinguishing itself by providing superior value and performance per watt. Utilizing Intel's next-generation Dual-Core microarchitecture, the 5100 series delivers up to three times the performance per watt compared with previous platforms.

In addition to increased performance, new memory technology provides improved data access and integrity. A three-fold increase in bandwidth, and a memory capacity four times that of previous processors, gives the 5100 series the ability to deliver up to double the performance. The innovative all-new dual-independent point-to-point direct-connect bus replaces the front-side bus, dramatically improving overall performance.

The Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor 5100 series is an integral part of the currently-available Intel-powered PerformanceWare 1510, and the StorageWare SA350 (debuting at the end of June), both from Pogo Linux. These are the first Pogo Linux systems to support this new processor series.

The PerformanceWare 1510 epitomizes the lastest in 1U server technology design, with 16 memory slots and advanced remote management features. The new Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors enable this server to provide a robust solution for databases, transactional programs, and many other custom applications while continuing to meet the power requirements of growing data centers.

The StorageWare SA350, will also take advantage of many I/O improvements in the latest Intel platform. With a dramatic increase in memory bandwidth and a new chipset, this system will deliver storage faster than ever. The processor will help serve increased amounts storage over the network and provide even more performance to data-intensive applications.

According to Erik Logan, Chief Technical Officer, Pogo Linux, Inc., “The combination of great performance and low power consumption of the new Intel Xeon processor really enhances our product line. With its new performance per watt, our customers can get the performance they want and the power savings they need. We are very happy to be able to offer these solutions to our customers.”
