Both are open source operating systems owned by Sun Microsystems. Solaris is the mainstream OS that is considered the stable release, while OpenSolaris is aimed towards developers, system administrators and users who want to use the the latest and greatest features that may not be considered stable.

Which systems are Solaris and OpenSolaris available on?

There's no definite answer because everyone's OS needs are different. One of the most sought after features of Solaris and OpenSolaris is the ZFS file system which offers a 128-bit scalable file system.
