Maximize IT productivity by streamlining storage virtualization administration – including storage allocation and cloning. With the Virtual Machine DataCenter (VMDC) add-on, you can configure StorageDirector Z to host virtual machines (VMs) over NFS or iSCSI network shares, giving you the ability to:
• Support all major virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Citrix Xen & Microsoft Hyper-V)
• Support for NFS and iSCSI environment with file and block-level access to VMDC VStorage
• Perform common tasks, such as stopping & starting VMs
• Easily clone or migrate virtual machines with an easy-to-use graphical interface
• Establish storage policies (replication, backups, retention) at the VM-level
Virtual Machine DataCenter (VMDC)
With support for all major server virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Citrix Xen and Microsoft Hyper-V), Virtual Machine DataCenter 3.0 (VMDC) let’s storage administrators view and manage their entire virtualized infrastructure from a simple point-and-click interface. In addition, VMDC provides flexible and powerful management and cloning capabilities for storage administrators to accelerate storage provisioning and establish storage policies at the VM-level.
How VMDC Works
NexentaStor creates flexible storage allocations called VStorage for virtual hosts and virtual clusters. VStorage shows up in the user-interface of your virtualization software – although the storage itself resides on the StorageDirector appliance. NexentaStor communicates to the server via NFS, with support for both file and block (iSCSI and Fibre Channel) level access VStorage.
