Multi CPU Workstations

For especially compute-intensive workloads, a standard desktop PC may not be the right tool for the job. For CPU heavy tasks, content creators need the type of processing power usually reserved for high-end servers. These dual CPU Xeon workstations provide the clock speeds, core counts, and memory bandwidth to ensure that your PC accelerates your workflow. You get so much more work done when your desktop can keep pace with you. Using enterprise server grade processors in a desktop workstation can be worth the additional expense if your workflow has demands that cannot be met by standard desktop PC configurations. Here are a couple of key situations in which a dual CPU system may be an ideal fit:

  • Your application needs a lot of processor cores. The overall core count can be significantly higher in a dual Xeon or dual Epyc workstation. Multi-threaded tasks such as rendering respond very well to scaling out by making more cores available to the application. If an app can run parallel threads on most or all of the available cores, performance is enhanced substantially.
  • You need fast clock speeds in addition to lots of cores. Desktop systems are often limited in clock speeds as core counts climb. This is far less true with multi CPU HPC workstations. So, if you have workloads that include single threaded applications that benefit most from raw clock speed, running alongside multi-threaded apps that need more cores, one of these systems might be just the ticket.
