Servers with Cavium ThunderX
Given the recent proliferation of hyperscale datacenters, cloud computing environments, and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), there is a pressing need for more efficient server architectures. ARM servers are an ideal solution for many web-based workloads. The ARM CPU architecture is an economical alternative to x86, due to its low power consumption, lower heat generation, and overall affordability. Pogo Linux ARM servers feature dual Cavium ThunderX CPUs. These processors have 48 cores each, for a total of 96 cores in each server. The ability to run so many simultaneous threads with such efficiency makes these systems ideal for web-based applications.
